There's a light at the end of the tunnel and we're pretty sure it's not a speeding train. This week's production meeting just wrapped up and I've been given the go-ahead to pass out the latest info.
Our offline test for 1.31 has recently concluded and we want to thank all of you for participating. For the first time we used our new polling software to allow you to give us performance feedback and the results were great. Hundreds of you gave us direct feedback which we were then able to chart and trend to give us a much better picture of where we are than we have been able to do previously. Most of you have systems very similar to what we use in-house comprising of Win7 64 bit or Win XP 32 bit. All but a few of you are running multi-core processors with 4 gigs of ram and the most common video cards you have are in the nVidia 9800 series. This mirrors exactly what we use at Rat Central.
Tuesday morning we will be bringing the servers down briefly for routine server maintenance. This will begin at approximately 9:30 AM US Central Time (GMT: 3:30 PM GMT) and is projected to take about 30 minutes, possibly less possibly more.
Fresh meat for the grinder! Tim "Timmy41" DiFrancesco has joined the crew here at CRS as our newest Production/QA Intern. Young Tim will be helping out Gophur, Doc and, occasionally, Bloo, with various and sundry tasks. Tim and his family recently moved to the Dallas area from Philadelphia. He's been a WWIIOL:BE player since 2006 and is excited about his first "real" job opportunity.
There has been a lot of discussion in the barracks about the High Command; how it’s organized, how it functions, how they manage player expectations and their role in the placement of Attack Objectives (AO’s) and brigade movement. We welcome these discussions and always like to read and discuss thoughtful ideas. But I've detected some confusion as to exactly what can be done today, so I thought it would be a good idea to dispel some myths and let you know what we are working on.
Sometimes we may take this game way too seriously and forget why we even subscribe in the first place, (to have fun and enjoy ourselves). I would like to share with you all, two of the funniest and strangest moments that I have experienced in this game.
IN GAME ADVERTISING?Friday, 05 February 2010Irelandeb asked in the Barracks: "Rats, surely you could get some companies to pay you to put their historic adverts in game here? Suitable places might be inside petrol stations etc. It would look great and add to immersion." Read the Answer
NEW CHAT UI FEATURES?Tuesday, 02 February 2010A question about the Chat UI was asked by Uberian in the Q&A forum: "I try to send a PM to most of the greentags I see, explaining how to reply PMs and how to send one to another player. Thing is most of the time I never get a answer back, so either they see my PM and still cant understand or they simply miss it because the chat can be quite spammy at times. I also think a revamp of the squad tab is needed to make it more easier for them to see where they can join up on a squadmates mission... Read the Answer
