During this test, you will make changes to different Video settings in your Preference tab and respawn into the game. All tests will be run offline. To run the game offline, open your /CRS/Battleground Europe TEST/ folder and double click ww2.exe.

Benchmark Tests

These are simple tests that ask you to set a preference, enter some commands, sometimes spawn a particular unit and and record a value. Note that you will not be able to maneuver when running some of these tests.

  1. Launch the game offline, go to the Preferences tab and select Best Performance (this is the default on a fresh install, but it is good practice).
  2. In the Effect section, set Clutter to Disabled and Save Changes. If prompted to restart, please restart.
  3. Go the Offline Spawn list (the main screen when offline).

TEST ONE: BENCHREMAGEN

  1. Open the chat bar and enter ".benchremagen" then press Enter World. The client will then spawn you in near Remagen looking north into the town. Wait few moments for the scene to fully load.
  2. Press NumLock to bring up the Game Info HUD element.
  3. Record the FPS displayed. (Do not despawn yet). Benchremagen FPS_____

TEST TWO: BENCHVEHICLES

  1. With the client still spawned in, open the chat bar and enter ".benchvehicles". A bunch of vehicles will be spawned in at various distances and rotations. It will look kind of crazy.
  2. Wait a few moments then record the FPS displayed. Benchvehicles FPS_____
  3. Press Escape and Despawn.

TEST THREE: BENCHANTWERP

  1. Open the chat bar and enter .benchantwerp
  2. You will be spawned in the air south of Antwerp with the city in view.
  3. Wait a few moments then record the FPS displayed. Benchantwerp FPS_____
  4. Press Escape and Despawn.

TEST FOUR: SHADOWS

This test will happen at the normal offline spawning area (Area 51). We would like you to spawn in 4 times, changing the Shadows preference before each spawn in.

  1. In the Preferences Tab, select Shadows, set them to High.
  2. Back to the Spawnlist.
  3. Select a British Rifleman then press Enter world.
  4. Exit the Barracks and move to the corner of the tank driving track.
  5. Record your FPS. Then Despawn. Shadows High FPS_____
  6. Repeat steps 1 through 5 after setting Shadows to Medium. Shadows Medium FPS_____
  7. Repeat steps 1 through 4 after setting Shadows to Low. Shadows Low FPS_____

TEST FIVE: RAIN

Remain spawned into Area 51 and facing West. Now we will test the rain

  1. Open the chat bar and enter ".rain". This will set the rain to Cloudy.
  2. Record your FPS. Rain: Cloudy FPS_____
  3. Open the chat bar and enter ".rain". This will set the rain to Rainy.
  4. Record your FPS. Rain: Rainy FPS_____
  5. Open the chat bar and enter ".rain ". This will set the rain back to Clear.

TEST SIX: CLUTTER

The new clutter will be tested at Area 51 in the vehicle spawning area. Leave your Shadows Off and Rain at Clear.

  1. Go to your Preferences tab, Video Effects section.
  2. Set Clutter Radius and Density to the Maximum values.
  3. Back to the Spawnlist.
  4. Select a British Hotchkiss 25 mm gun and press Enter World.
  5. Do not move the unit.
  6. Record your FPS. Clutter Minimum FPS_____
  7. Despawn and change Clutter Radius and Density to the Minimum values.
  8. Respawn with the British Hotchkiss again.
  9. Record your FPS. Clutter Maximum FPS_____
