This week has seen some great progress made to the Battleground Europe host stability issues that arose with the live release of version 1.34. The binaries on the Beta server have been updated and it's running smoothly. Server downtime and CTD's have dropped dramatically over the past few days and will be reduced even more with the host and client updates coming. Read on for more information about next week's schedule.


The team has already pinpointed and fixed several problems that were causing both the chat server crashes as well as some CTDs. But there is more to do. So sometime early next week, the live server will be brought down for an OS update, host binary update, and a client update. We still have a few things to hammer out before we can pull the trigger, so we're not able to give you the exact day yet. As soon as we know, you'll know. We do know that the server will need to be down for the better part of a day to perform all the updates and make sure they are functioning properly.

There is currently a new test client release available. This is a voluntary download for those wanting to test and help us ensure we've fixed the biggest connection issues. The more people that help test it, the better. This is not a beta client, it's intended for play on the live server. It is an executable file (includes an installer and an uninstaller) with connection fixes for testing on the live server and can be found in the Testing And Bug Reporting Forum.

We're also working on a beta client that includes data fixes (see read me below) and will be running on the new host OS we plan to release next week. Watch the Twitter and Facebook feeds for notice of availability.

This release introduces several fixes for connection state issues. Please post in the test forum any issues you experience during this test.

Server
- the cluster is running an upgraded OS
- this will go live pending beta testing
- these infrastructure improvements will allow better stability and better error tracking

Testing
- see others
- kill others
- blow FBs
- capture towns
- move brigades
- AI shoot and kill
- PPO placement and destruction
- bridge build and destroy
- EWs
- any/all other play mechanics

Archives
- due to the inclusion of 2 new archives the 1.34.6 update will be a full install only

Performance:
- Players should be aware that the most recent nVidia drivers can generate a significant fps increase

Live test:
- this executable will also be made available for testing on the live server
- several connection issues have been addressed in this release
- players experiencing connection issues should visit the test forum and the 1.34 Live Test thread

Infantry:
- Adjusted sniper scope view
- Fixed several infantry who could not use the build tool

Misc:
- plink kills should now record (needs test)
- updated languages
- fixed a clipping issue at the Infantry FB
- adjusted spacing on some UI icons
- fixed an issue with no fire zones

Beta:
- PlayGATE should now launch any server without attempting to update the local client to that servers current running version

Very nice indeed! Now when will we get back mission results which have been lost since release of 1.34???
