We'll be resetting for intermission shortly, the first stages of the reconfiguration are underway already. The Live Team is already preparing the server files for the changeover this afternoon. The servers will stay up until they are ready to be rebooted with the intermission in place. We'll be seeing the return of the popular Blenheim-T torpedo bomber for the rest of the weekend. Only the very earliest equipment will be available so it's kind of a "What if Germany had invaded England to open the war in 1939 ?" scenario. All players from recruit to vet will have access to the same equipment set. There are no rank advantages to getting equipment. Due to the rather limited ability of the Blenheim-T to survive a sky filled with cannon armed aircraft none will be availlable. This is where pilots get to hone their aiming and shooting skills and practice "staying on the 6 of the enemy" because you're going to have to do it with rifle caliber machines guns. This also gives bombers with rear gunners some fun to have. Tanks are restricted to the lighter types so there won't ba any mobile pillboxes on the battlefield. Tankers will have to be sharp and practice their "don't get hit first" tactics. This will always teach you good tank technique. While attrition supply is going to be switched on (because we can't switch it off and dedicate the spawn lists to a reduced variety of equipment) we have loaded the ToE's with a much higher number of vehicles as might be expected in the more free environment of an intermission. The objective (if you care about such things) in this Intermission is for the Germans to take over England and the Allies to kick them out of England. Both sides have reserves waiting close by to move into play after the initial 6 hour starting battle. To diversify the fight and to provide a choice there is an Allied pocket around dunkirk that might also prove decisive. So get ready to kick back, have some fun and if you're concerned about the next campaign (56) it should be ready to roll during the afternoon on Monday. PS: remember all you first time torpedo bomber pilots ... you have to be flying level at or below 160 IAS (airspeed) and 200 feet altitude to enable your torpedo to release. It takes some practice ! |
