FROM THE DESK OF THE ALLIED COMMANDER IN CHIEF:
This week we have seen some ups and downs during the first full week of campaign 88.
The Allied side is strong with will and mite to persevere and beat out the axis. I have full confidence that the map will start it’s eastward movement soon and we will be in Frankfurt victorious at the end of this campaign. Now is our time allies to rally together dig in and push this map to the east slow and steady and crush our opponents will and determination.
AAR of the Week:
I took over MOIC from Trevor8 at about 6:00pm MNT. From there the Axis were hitting Sedan hard. I quickly moved some supply around to get more supply into sedan which was beaten down pretty bad. Shortly after we were able to take down all 3 FBs to Sedan and secure the town. This is when I saw our window of opportunity.
Axis had been also hitting Antwerp with a mole op, but we had been fending them off quite well. I decided it was time to get an AF buffered. Trevor and I discussed quickly and decided Lier was the Target. I got several Blue tags to start getting FRUs inb to Lier and get things set up from Mechelen while some others worked the FBs to Antwerp. We started plugging away at Lier. We were unable to take the Lier Twerp FB for quite some time and just as things were looking like they would start to turn back in favor of the axis we took the Lier Twerp FB. The boost in supply really kept pushing things in our favor. I then rotated in SAS bde for the final blow. We took Lier from axis hands.
Now I knew the Axis were weak in Schilde because they had been hitting Twerp all night, and they had even moved one bde into Lier to try and salvage the situation. I quickly moved 3rd comm and 14e into Lier. Axis pushed on Couvin and Pville hard at this time. With the influx of Players I was able to reroute the Lier Capturers to head to Couvin to help liberate the town. As the Allies did that I had the 101st and a few other Allies (jsilec and jb) help me set up FRUs for Schilde out of the Twerp Schilde FB.
Once Couvin was libbed and the FB was being pushed the Allies got back on the Attack. We once again were met with stiff opposition at one of the Axis held FBs (lier-Schilde). We punched and clawed and fought our way into town from the Antwerp FB and made good progress but our low supply soon started to show. We knew the axis were weak, but they had a whole weak Division and we only had 1 weak infantry bde fighting. I moved 14e back to Antwerp and we were able to once again gain the advantage with our boosted Armor support. As our armor charged ahead I set out to try and take the Lier Schilde FB. I used the Freshly rotated in SAS supply and got a FRU set up. With quick reaction several allied members spawned my FRU and we pushed on to the FB. We quite quickly got the Infantry spawn down but bogged down due to a couple 232s. It was then I received information via jsilec that the axis had gotten a sudden influx of stugs and were taring our armor apart. I quickly checked and sure enough the axis had rotated their final half supplied inf bde into Schilde to make one last hoorah. At this point we were able to flip the Lier Schilde FB. I moved in the 1st guards bde for armor supply and we charged forward. Quickly repairing the Schilde Bridge the Fresh bdes from Lier were enough to overwhelm the remaining axis supply and take the town. During this time we experienced a 70 Second Spawn delay at one point in the fight.
As Schilde was nearing it's final moment puma5 from Ratpack asked me for an AO. Since we didn't have a good P2 AO I agreed and ratpack went to work setting up Flavion. Once they were set up puma5 asked me for the AO and I gladly placed it. While the battle was raging in Schilde ratpack was able to sneak in and simul cap Flavion. This was with out a doubt key to our taking of Schilde. Once Schilde was captured I shifted the Blood thirsty Allied force to Flavion while I set up the Next P1 attack and moved Allied Air into our newly buffered AF.
Once the FRUs and Bdes were in place we pushed on the final town the battered 4th Division held and that was Oostmalle. We had a full SAS and 1er Supply to hit Oostmalle with and the axis didn't stand a chance. GHC tried Frantically to save their Division and get the Fallbacks set by moving one bde into Grobbendonk and one back into Turnhout. The axis also went to work sneaking out to the Schilde Oostmalle FB. While we were capping and fighting hard in Oostmalle the Axis were busy getting into position to try and shut down our attack. Just as we captured the Schilde spawn and were working on the WAB the axis managed to take the Schilde Oostmalle FB. I directed everyone to start using the Wuust FB while a few Allies assaulted the Axis Schilde Oostmalle FB. We captured and held the WAB and also the Wuust CP in town. Holding these two cps assured our foothold in Oostmalle while the small group of allies could take back the Schilde FB. Once we regained the Schilde FB time was up for the battered 4th Division Units and the Allies quickly stormed the town. We captured Oostmalle and the 4th Division was split into three different Directions. 4.2 to Grob, 4.3 to Turn, and 4.1 and HQ to Hoog.
When I passed the map over to Tilo the Axis were desperate to get back on the Attack and had a very heavy fight going on at Sambreville.
The Allies did an excellent job tonight and we accomplished all of the goals I set out to. Tomorrow I'm hoping we can push on Wavre and Leuven to buffer yet another AF at Brussels.
