On December 7th 1941, one of the most tragic events happened in the history of the United States. The Japaness bombed Pearl Harbor and sealed the fate of the United States into entering into World War II. On December 6th 2008, we are going to recreate this major event in World War II in Battleground Europe. Although we do not have the Americans in the game, we are going to use the ships and planes that we have modeled.

The Special Event will take place in the harbor of Antwerp with British and French destroyers, transports, and Fairmiles representing the American fleet at anchor in Pearl Harbor. The Japanese will be represented by Ju-87 Stukas. A map is located in the sign up thread that shows the placements of the American fleet anchored in Antwerp Harbor. There will be 4 groups of Stukas to choose to be a pilot representing the different groups of planes from the 4 Japaness carriers that took part in the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Malize is the author of this Special Event and he's done a fantastic job at laying out this Special Event to pay homage to one of the greatest defeats that the American fleet suffered in World War II. Icetwp is the Naval Commander for the American fleet.  You can find a Thread by Icetwp here for discussions and placements for the fleet aspect of the event. He is also helping players get a placement in the event and assigning players as crew members to get as many ships as possible multi-crewed.

To sign up for this Special Event and view the feet placement recon map, you can find that information here. We hope that you will take some time on December 6th, 2008 and join us in recreating this historical event that gave the United States no other option but to enter World War II, one of the Greatest Wars of modern day history.

UPDATE!
Written by MOTORMOUTH

The Pearl Harbor Event was awesome! The Special Events team outdid themselves on this one. I had an insane amount of fun, even if I only managed to pick off one plane out of the 60+ that blotted out the sun in 2 seperate waves.

This sounds cool even though the axis are gonna be the attackers. :) This also brings up a good question to have around: When are the Americans and THEIR toys going to be modeled in?

Husk, the americans didn't enter france until '44, does CRS have plans to take the game forward to that period, if so, they might have to expand the map to cover all the european theatres.

Actually, americans entered Europe in 1943 in Italy :) But otherwise it is good idea. Maybe one day (very far day) this game will expand to simulate complete WWII, including the smallest island in pacific :)

Well, if you really wanna split hairs, we Americans first engaged with European forces in '42 in North Africa. But basically yah.
