Tank steering for better performance

DOCG'day everyone - I found this discussion in the forums relating to how to set up tank steering in Battleground Europe. Advanced steering setup in your keymapper can be critical to better success as a tanker, since often things happen very quickly in combat and it might come down to who can manoeuvre better, faster. It's not always the first to get a shot off if the other guy is a clever tank driver.

Players who haven't investigated default vehicle set-ups in the keymapper probably don't realize the brakes are bound by default to your Y axis joystick steering. You steer a tank by applying brakes to one side or by clutching that sides track drive. Clutching without braking steers you wider but you don't blow your speed. Having brakes seperate from steering (as a tank doesn't have steering wheels) means you can choose to just clutch one side (and turn gently and wide, but fast) or dab some brake on that side to tighten a clutched turn at the expense of some speed.

Default binding automatically uses brake to steer, and clutch at the same time. If you seperate them, you have better control and more options, plus you undertsand your vehicle better and will learn how to manage different terrain situations better and faster.

That also means, to a hot shot tanker, die less and kill more.

yousob
clear keymaps, Left brake and right brake, but leave centre brake active, that way brakes only work when you pull back on joystick and not when you turning. you realy notice the speed difference in the Pnz3f tank, as it has 10 gears.
