RE: How to outfox the badguy and gun his brains out. I want to point pilots who may be wondering how that guy always gets on his six but how come *I* can't do that, at this thread from the Hanger forum. In it is some interesting and extremely useful information, including ACM ribbon diagrams to help you understand the beauty and wonder of manoeuvring in 3D air combat. While it might seem a little strange to those who only ever think in terms of banking the plane and yanking it around in a flat circle, or diving away and running like a schoolgirl, a little time spent discovering what the really deadly guys are doing in the air will arm you with much deadlier moves.
Combat manoeuvres like the mysterious "scissors" and "lag displacement roll" ... the "barrrel roll attack" and how to use a barrel roll to save your skin when the bad guy is booming down on your six from behind are illustrated and explained. If the bandit is in a better turning airplane that yours, how do you get behind him when he's cranking it around ? Use the vertical and outside barrel roll Luke! Be sure to check out the full discussion in the forums. |
