Q: I know a lot of effort and R/D goes into the air-side of WWIIOL, so I'm just wondering why the more complex controls of the aircraft is so arcade-ish? It would be nice (on multi-engine aircraft especially) to be able to manually control things like prop-pitch (including feathering), mixture, and cooling (cowl-flaps, oil coolers). (From The Hangar) A: We have no current plans to redo the current game engine to permit individual engine management on multi-engined aircraft, or those kinds of things beyond the control systems in game at present. While it is obvious to any flight sim enthusiast why this would be “cool” and that to get around the “lots of players don’t want that level of complication” issue we could code it so that the choice was optional, this would require coding and art and production resources we don’t want to spare right now for this kind of development … while we have much more critical areas of the game to develop that requires those same resources. This may change in the future but that is unknown at the present time. Q: 5 times tonight my engine cuts mid-fight. Each time Im saddled up on a target...I pulled off a kill on the last one. It usually happens after pulling out of a dive at high Gs, or after letting the nose slice through after going vertical to let the aircraft get into a dive and start down hill again. Its very subtle at first, it just shows itself with a drastic drop in speed and inability to accelerate or fly faster than a crawl. Its not the engine overheating, it was at 90 degrees a few times, I wasnt shot or even shot at several times, no ticking, just lack of power after attempting to pull Gs to line up a shot. (From The Hangar.) A: You cannot lose your engine due to latency or packet loss, engine management is all done on your client. I suspect you are over-speeding your prop in the dive, where the engine is throttled back but the prop is wind-milling faster than your engine revolutions (or trying to) and this is not a bug. Do a high speed dive and turn your engine off. Then pull up and note as you zoom that the engine is reluctant to start until you slow down enough that the prop can get some “bite” on the air with the engine at start up revolutions. It might not start again until you are at stalling speed. This will not be apparent if your dive speed is not high, ie: the engine will start immediately. Q: I have an ieda why cant the bef and french spawn any tank in either brigade? So the allied side has a armor brig you can spawn either bef tanks or french tanks? Also adding 1 more div hq with 4 links would help the game out alot more. And only spaning tanks at the armor brig. (From The Motor Pool) A: British brigades are equipped with British supply, and French brigades are equipped with French supply. Making them all the same is not our intention. The only reason you will be able to sortie in British equipment from a town that has a French army in it, is if the British had an army formation in that town also. And vice versa of course. We have no plans to change this. You might consider also that this is how the equipment lists don’t manage to be everything British plus everything French totally outnumbering everything German at an insane level of variety. Because the number of British formations PLUS the number of French formations always equals the total number of German formations. If the Allies were combined in the manner suggested, you’d double the amount of equipment in EVERY ALLIED brigade because now they would all be the same with both equipment lists in all of them, regardless of their county denominator. Keeping them split lessens the overwhelming nature of their being two countries on one side and only one on the other. Plus it just makes more sense if you understand the Allied combined forces war at all.
