DOC: We can bounce this down the hall to the art department, and see what they think about it.
GOPHUR: They certainly could. We currently use .reports for tracking most of our terrain fixes. But I think in the case you are talking about where we have a new building to add to the terrain it would be faster for DOC to just go through the towns and place them then collate all of the reports and try and place objects where they were suggested to go by another trusted source. Too many cooks spoil the stew. However, the point is fairly moot because we no longer place individual buildings very often unless we are doing a fix or making a new town. And all of our future effort is going into a new type of terrain that won't hand place many objexts at all but will be built using procedural content as the foundation.
DOC: The shaking is very mild and really quite slight. One could argue that in real life it “isn’t there” but there is still a physical sensation of the gun vibrating that you would be very aware of, that in a computer game you cannot feel at all. So a very mild screen “vibe” is our way of making you aware of some sensation you otherwise would have zero sensation of if we didn’t, and since it doesn’t really affect your sight picture or target hit visual feedback to any real extent, we don’t think it’s excessive or in need of removal. GOPHUR: I see your point but having target and origin be the same color isn't something we like either. I'll pass it by RAMP and see if there is anything that he'd like to do in this area since he is currently working on the in game preferences.
GOPHUR: That does suck. And that is an oldie too. I'll see about putting it on the 1.32 short list. They technically wouldn't be STO in the way our current ones work because they would need to be passed off to a fire control system. Right now the limitation is that you can't kill things that aren't on your vis list. That's the only reason you have to bomb from low altitude. That, is still a bit of a project I'm afraid but it is one of the most glaring issues in the game.
DOC: The Bf110F-B. There are no changes that would be appropriate to make to this aircraft. It performs as it should and isn’t incorrect in any manner that we’re aware of.
MOTORMOUTH: Gophur is banned from IRC for life (We don't ask him why). Sircuddles just set one up, I see from a foray into The Barracks; #battlegroundeurope on irc.freenode.org (Not endorsed or monitored by CRS, so if you get ganked, we'll be sure to see your widow gets a nice wreath and then we'll disavow all knowledge of your existence)
DOC: "Camping” as it is called is very much a case of being totally over-run by superior numbers employed at that location against your defenses. It is almost every player’s objective to attack you in a manner you cannot defend against by gaining an unassailable advantage any way that they possibly can. This happens in every PvP game.
DOC: Unfortunately for the “lone warrior of the sky” flying around polishing his jousting trophy and letting his silk scarf fly in the breeze (he flies canopy open because he’s so awesome), this is a war going on here. It’s all very well enjoying a tough nail biting 1 on 1 and they are indeed great fun, but you cannot control the skies over Battleground Europe so that the rest of the blood thirsty horde looking to win the war leave you alone to contest your 1 vs. 1 like the gentleman warriors you are. I like to have an empty road going to work and back so I can have a nice little fang and hang the tail out a little, but the traffic choking the roads won’t co-operate with me on this score, and it’s a bit like that in the game. If you want a 1 on 1 and have it all to yourself, you’re going to have to ORGANIZE that between you and your opponent. If you enter the war torn skies of the campaign game, you cannot really expect that the war and everyone waging it will stop just for you to have a 1 on 1. For that, you’re going to have to set it up outside the war zone, otherwise you’re just going to have to take your chances like everybody else. Q: Why do the enemy shells land 200 meters next to me and i get hit? I hate this because everytime it seems they are shooting on anything else. DOC: Unlike smaller network games or even standalone games (no network) we cannot handle the state and update changes required to make all of this work, with the same extremely tight tolerances they can. There are going to be some discrepancies between the exact points of impact and locational data (position co-ordinates) different people see from one client to another. Even the degree of this will vary from almost nothing to slightly larger amounts. Q: Why won’t the AP from a Vickers (tank) kill a 2c (tank)? I shot one with 200 rounds less than 100 meters away … he turns and kills me. DOC: Vickers light tank is armed with a mediocre .50 caliber machine gun. It is heavier than a .30 caliber machine gun but not as good as say the American .50 caliber Browning M2. The British Vickers .50 caliber is not capable of dealing effectively with the armour of a Panzer tank, and even a light Panzer like the PzKw.IIc is too much for that gun. However, the armour of the Vickers light tank is thin and vulnerable to the Armour Piercing rounds of the PzKw.IIc 20mm cannon Q: MSPs- "No link between origin and target". I just drove 10km for that. Can it not tell you before you spawn? DOC: When we added MSP trucks this was not realized at that time as the incredible annoyance we know it to be now. We definitely would like to make it known before you spawn and when we get done with the critical release work we are doing now, this will probably float pretty high up the list. Unfortunately it’s a very, very, very big list full of big ticket items and sometimes the detail things take forever to get to. We hate this one as much as you do and we will have a go at it as soon as we can. |

Q: The moon, the sun looks like a sun now and has done for some time, but that moon, is awful. with all the new emmersion can somone please rip a new moon graphic fromt he interweb, or go outside with a decent camera and take a picture. Silly i know but every time i look at it it dates back to the 80's it wasent even the norm back in 2001.
Q: Letting players help with terrain/map changes, or in other words ".report as a map/terrain editing tool". Changing the terrain/map of the game is, as we've been told a million times, very labour intensive. Could .report (and training server) be used as an interface to receive help from players? Could (authorized?) players report proper positions and facings for new objects if the report "syntax" and other requirements were defined well enough?
Q: Have you ever though that you would be keeping IRC channel in quakenet? I think it would be pretty good for all people in community to keep in touch and for you guys (and girls ) also?
Any chance of getting a forum to discuss with you about the new UI and gameplay overhaul of 1.32/1.33 ?
[We'll be scheduling a Rat Chat in the near future to discuss these new features - MM]
I am very glad to hear you are going to try and get the bombing fix in 1.32. This is a real game changer for the bomber pilots.
