FORUM OUTAGES?

An eloquent question from Tavyl in Off Topic: "Forums down for 8 hours...What up, dawg?"

RAFTER: Ya we're gonna work on a script that will recognize the forums are "stuck" and "reboot" the forum software but the real problem is we that we keep years and years worth of threads here. Even our recent upgrades to db, forum software and hardware can't overcome that.

What's being done now should eliminate these extended downtimes but won't fix the root of the problem.
