OXYGEN TANKS TAKING DAMAGE?

A question from primernr in The Hangar today: "Noticed in Doc's reply to another question that he mentioned radio and oxygen tank componets that are modeled to take damage. Is there any consequences currently for those items being damaged or destroyed?"

DOC: Not currently. We don’t disable chat based on your radio being wrecked (which would be the only realistic consequence to consider) and since ammunition blows up rather easily, adding blowing up oxygen bottle damage to the range of consequences would seem to make it a little too easy for your plane to get blown up. I guess some would like to see “no ability to fly at high altitude die to oxygen starvation” as a possible minor consequence to oxygen bottle damage (as opposed to the catastrophe of the bottle being blown up) but the code doesn’t currently support that kind of thing. Of course it’s not impossible to create most consequences but so far it hasn’t been more important than a lot of other stuff we’ve had to do, so it just hasn’t happened. It’s really cool to drill down to this level of detail I know, but in all honesty we have a lot of much higher level detail still to do.

Would love to have chat and AWS/Radar disabled when radio destroyed. Any plans for this? Some more diversity in battle damage impact would be very nice.

Maybe you could slightly darken the screen around the edges when the oxygen tanks get damaged, much like when you get shot but not killed as infantry

Model oxygen tank and radio damage now or I'm going to unsub.

Possibly damage to oxygen tanks could result in blackouts in lower G maneuvers due to less oxygen in the blood stream? Just a thought.

A broken radio does not help against TeamSpeak or Mumble ;-)

... as nice as this idea/feature sounds, people would find/use ways to get around that limitations, so no need to push it.
