Hangar forumite Dangler asks "Why do ground units see circles around air units? If there is some limitation in our monitors, surely pilots have the same limitations seeing ground targets. While ground units have to worry about depth for shooting, planes are burdened by the noise they make and having to find ground units in ground clutter. Seems both are realistic problems, why the need for the circles?
DOC: Aircraft have always had icons due to the difficulty in seeing them at ranges that in real life would have been possible but are not able to be rendered effectively on a computer monitor. They are an intrinsic part of air combat target acquisition. That’s why they have the unique fade-in and fade-out lost acquisition functionality. The only reason why a ground player sees the icon on an enemy aircraft is that everyone does, it’s a global attribute. The reason why a pilot doesn’t see an icon on an enemy ground unit is that no one does, it’s a global attribute. |
no circles for ground guys!
AAA units - finally a use for commander scope to IFF
Pilots - need to fly together as real.
Harder for new pilots, but teamplay gained is worth.
Try in the intermission?
Could just imagine wasting 1/4 of the clips of a bof shooting on a friendly.
