A question asked by Propaganda in the Barracks: "Why do the ATR's have to reload before they undeploy?
I'm guessing this was an accident. There is no way someone purposely forced a reload before you undeploy. That would seem counter-productive."

GOPHUR: But it doesn't. I'm guessing that you're confusing reloading with cycling. Reloading is replacing the clip when it is empty. In our world, all weapons have a clip, even if that clip is only one round. Reloading is always manually operated. Cycling the weapon is always automatic. So if you look at the ATR, the British ATR fires and cycles each time you pull the trigger. you can't undeploy during this firing cycle because the animation is one action. When the weapon is out of ammo, you have to manually reload, adding a new clip. You can certainly undeploy with the clip empty and you can pull the trigger and get a no fire just like with a regular rifle or other weapon.

The confusion might be that you are using the German ATR, which only has one clip. You fire and cycle the weapon and no you can;t undeploy during that action sequence no more than you can with any other weapon. you also can never reload that weapon.

Another odd example is the mortar. The mortar has a single clip yet it cycles at the beginning of the fire routine instead of at the end.

yes but he's asking why should we have to do this and can it be changed so we don't?

I am not sure soldiers would choose to cycle their bolt and get run over by 232 instead of ignoring the bolt and get the hell out of the way of the incoming vehicle.

the point he's making is that we shouldn't have to sit glued to the ground while recycling the bolt when in real life you'd be hustling for cover ASAFP... time is precious

I can't remember how many times I've been killed while cycling. That's one of the top reasons why I hate using ATR. Like the "glue" of the LMGs that is going to be removed now in v 1.31, could we get rid of this as well in 1.3x?
