| DEATH TRIGGER? |

"Death trigger" is the situation where a gunner, if killed while holding down the trigger, keeps firing as the last recoded input from the input device (trigger) is not cancelled when the gunner dies. This was an issue in the past but is not an issue in the game nowadays. When a gunner is killed the trigger input is cancelled even if it was being held down at the moment of the gunners death.Additionally, a dead gunner cannot see or fire his weapon after it has rotated ... in fact since the gunner cannot rotate the weapon after death (new gunner control input is ignored after the death of gunner) the only rotation that would be possible would be "auto rotate" that being the gun was rotating when the gunner died. In the event that this has happened the gun could not "stop" and then be able to be fired if the gunner really is dead. It would go around and around and around but not be able to shoot at anything. What all this indicates is that you have not killed the gunner even though you might think you have. The only person who can be 100% certain that the gunner was killed is the gunner himself. In some specific situations (tank brews up and is on fire or the turret blows off) the shooter can be certain, because the fire or the explosion always kills all the crew whether or not they were hit by any rounds fired at that crew member. Never assume in cases where you might have missed a crew member (esspecially if you are some distance away) that you "got the gunner" because in very many cases, you did not kill the gunner even though you will swear you did. If the gunner is dead he cannot shoot back. If he is bleeding out he might squeeze off a shot or two but that too will cease very shortly as he bleeds out more. A dead gunner doesn't shoot, his trigger input is ignored by the game. |
