There have been some concerns about the mini-campaign "Invasion - BeachHead Breakout!" expressed by players and High Command alike. So here are the facts: 1.31 is real close to live release. When #61 looked close to ending we had a decision to make: Do we start #62 and chance that we'll have to cut it short so we can launch a new campaign with the 1.31 version or do we run an extended intermission? Neither prospect looked very appealing to us. So we floated this idea: A special event based on a real and pivotal WWII conflict. Many hours were spent designing it so that it reflected D-Day +1 as closely as possible. When we published the initial article, we tried to express the idea that this was something special, something new and something we were hopeful we could use to spice things up every once in a while. The first wave of excitement from the players was awesome. It was a tough set up, and the Axis were going to have a hell of a time trying to dig in and hold the line against waves of infantry heavy invaders; Allied forces had a slim strip of land to keep themselves in the fight against strong enemy armor. There have been some phenomenal battles, both sides pounding each other mercilessly. The map is moving, but it's moving slowly. It's pretty much a given that when you try anything new, something gets overlooked in the planning. For this event, it was focusing so hard on the design of it and fretting over the players reaction to it that we referred to it in the first round of communications as a "special intermission". The reason it was initially called an intermission is pretty simple: the map currently has 2 states in our system: Campaign and Intermission. So since it wasn't going to be a numbered campaign, it was, by default, labeled an intermission. As soon as we saw that some were blowing it off as just another run of the mill scenario, we changed the wording to "Mini-campaign". Some re-prioritized and got back in with a vengeance while some others are still in a "laissez faire" frame of mind. But one thing is certain: Loads of people are having fun on both sides. This "mini-campaign", "special campaign", or "special intermission", whatever you choose to call it, won't be the last of it's kind over the next few years. We've already learned a lot from it, not the least of which is to choose our choice of words in communicating ideas to our customers much, much more carefully. |

Right, how is it going for our distant brothers in arms in China? I saw a vid of a massive fb bust on a Chinese site with LOADS of inf. Chinese characters and all. It got me curious.
Short historical scenarios with authentic supply levels maybe? This has been great! Great idea CRS.
