Ratatosk had a question regarding AI damage: "Last night I noticed an AI tower that was still up, so I decided to see what would happen if I shot at it with my portable cannon. After 21 rounds, the tower died...I got a rifleman to resupply me and found another tower, but this time no love after firing all 30 rounds into it. So there was mission speculation that maybe I didn't kill the first one, but when I despawned I saw I was given 3 points credit so I did kill it indeed. I am wondering if anyone has experimented with ATR vs. AI in the past? The successful attack was from 50m shooting into the side of the tower, the unsuccessful one was from 50m shooting into the open back of the tower." DOC: You have to hit the crew in an AI emplacement, hitting the object the crew are inside of isn't actually the same as hitting the AI. See, since we swap out crews/weapons to represent the different countries that might own them, without changing the object they are inside of, the object is part of the terrain but the crew/weapon is not, thus you have to damage (hit) the actual crew/weapon not the emplacement. So an MG tower, hitting the tower will not work. Same for gun pits, etc.. Yeah we know it would be easier if you could just hit the object they are inside of but that doesn't work with how the game world is built up in code. Terrain objects are not a part of the strat feedback/database networking. The AI crew/weapon is not a terrain object (it is dynamic and attached to strat) but the emplacements are fixed terrain objects. We can't change that at this time. Hope this helps a little. |

Well, not really Doc. I took out an AI MG pit with an LMG in about 4 clips. I'm not saying they should be same damage model as a regular player infantry, some middle-ground would be nice, considering how accurate the AI has seemed to have become
