The latest update saw the introduction of a couple of new "Noob-friendly" features: Waypoints and Death Icons. While the way-points are pretty much considered the cat's meow, there is less love for the floating death icons: "Yeah I don't like the skulls either. It might tell you there is an ei in that general area, but who really expects him to be there when ya get back." RAFTERRAFTER:The skulls were added primarily as a way for players to have additional feedback that there was action happening around them. Our game is really good at providing ways to hide from each other and often even the rag doll animations aren't seen because you guys are all hiding in bushes :) and there is very little, if any, new information gathered from the death icons about enemy locations.

We were anticipating that not all players would like or want to have this kind of feedback in game. We allow rank/name icons to be turned off and we allow the new death icons to be turned off.

For now, we've decreased the size of the death icon (next release) and as a reminder, if you don't like them or icons of any kind, use your Settings to turn them off.

Yeah, but no one KNOWS how to turn them off! I've looked. If it's hidden in a forum, 40% of the player-base will NEVER know.

I am totally against the death icon. Makes the game feel "cheap" somehow. Even if I turn the death icon off others could still use it as a tool that gives an unfair advantage. Needs to be removed from the game IMHO.

Yeah, I can turn them off, but I can't turn them off for the enemy. I surely won't turn something off, so that the enemy has an advantage over me. That argumentation is simply stupid.

I would limit those death icons to the rank. Make them available for new players as it is intended anyway and after the player reaches rank 2, send him a notice in the UI that the REAL combat will start now and remove those death icons.

I'm against the death icons too, I like the suspense of not knowing if you really got that ei or not, makes it seem more real

I agree COMPLETELY with the death icon. When trying to defend with only a few people, it is EXTREMELY handy to know when one of the depot guards dies, fails to tell anyone, and goes off doing something else.

Uh...guys....unless I'm missing something here, the death icons are only for FRIENDLIES, not the enemy. When one of your comrade dies, in REAL war you BETTER BELIEVE YOU KNOW ABOUT IT. Just ask any real combat veteran.

The death icons ONLY show for friendlies on YOUR side, not enemy. I agree with Company0, all they do is let you know when a friend has died close to you.

Please remove the dead icons back on the map.
These icons give the enemy the benefits are totally unrealistic.

Here's a different solution which is more 'realistic' :

Add an animation sequence to corpses which makes them moan in pain and have their feet and hands move erratically for 2 mins after the player is shot. Better than a tard skull icon.

I agree 100% with hchris, adding a cap on the rank would work well. I think the cap should extend to all persona's. For example if you're greater than rank 2 in the army, but still rank 1 in the Navy you cann't have access to the system.

Actually you can disable the Skulls and the Origin,Leader,Target Icons on your screen/Map.. When you Despawn.. Go to Preferences.. Click on HUD.. and find the tab where you disable the Skulls, and Leader stuff.

I like the death icons. The option to turn them off should be more easily accessible. (for those that just have to whine about it)

Frankly, I like the death icons because in real war, within a certain distance and in the same area, you are going to know if someone dies around via radio or through word of mouth. Maybe there should be no death icon if you get knifed :P
