For new players, the WWIIOL arena can be an intimidating place where death stalks you at every turn while veteran players seem to breeze through combat without effort. Don't be fooled by those cool customers, FNGs! The most elite and capable fighters in WWIIOL still get pwned like rookies every once in a while. Don't believe me? There's a thread in the Barracks with some hilarious stories from old and new players describing their most humiliating in game death. Here are a few of the more unique ones: "I've been run over by an 88. Some years ago... before 88's could push themselves. Think he unhooked from a HT at the top of a big hill and must have been going 50 mph by the time it got to me" Hatchcock (Join date: June, 2001)I can hear that guy laughing his butt off! "Lmg'd a dac on a steep hill, it flamed and rolled over me before I could get out of the way." Twain (Join date: April, 2006)Ack! "I was driving 4 sappers in an Opel, had tons of miles to do, i was half watching an A-team episode, good action while driving, then suddenly i missed the road turn after a long hill, I was still watching TV when barracus took off from a broken bridge with the GMC 15 sec before, when i heard Opel taking off full speed on a berm and it landed in the tree 25m after the ride, all sappers screamed "aaaaah" while dying and falling from tree, then falling back in Opel, all ded... A-team is lethal while driving. I assumed my TV will stay off since this ol' day." Ostwind (Join date: January, 2009)This is why they didn't equip Opels with TVs during the war. "There was a whacky laffy full of us headed into a town that had a clear approach road. Being a dumbarse, our driver stuck to the road...sigh. So far so good, no tanks, no incoming fire. As we're tooling along, safe as babes in arms (or so we thought) some of us were looking forward and spotted a lone ei hop out of the road side bushes, kneel in the middle of the road and then run away again. WTF? As we passed the spot where he had been, all of us were waiting for the barrage of bullets. Imagine our surprise when the satchel that enemy sapper had placed on the road exploded at the exact moment our truck rolled over it." Motormouth (Join date: September, 2001)I wish I knew who that guy was. "OTW home in a shot up, barely flyable, badly smoking plane. Suddenly theres a Blen on my tail (Where o Where is the honor in this game?). Blen plinks me and I chase him away, several times my plane wanted to simply fall out of the sky while turnfighting. On my way home a Spit finishes me. Guess who gets the kill? Hint: It's not the spit." Rote7 (Join date: April, 2006)Honor? Honor is for winners!!! "Not me... but some poor sapper sneaking up on my Stuart the other day popped up over a berm to have a look... just as I fired the main gun at a Panzer. He must have been looking right down the barrel. So did I! Poor bugger... "So I'm new to the game again after taking a few years off. I love the new ground and terrain to hide in. One battle a few nights ago I took a rifleman off from the town I was in (something with an L) and crept up the hill the enemy were coming from. I hide in the bushes, i crawl behind berms, and only sprint when i enter a open spot. That's what you get for being a forum lurker, Arkham! "My most embaressing death was as an axis infantryman defending Vlissingen. Walking in a field well to the north of the airfield, I saw a c47 in the distance coming into land. It landed on me, despite my trying to run out of the way!" Fidd (Join date: December, 2001)

I heard a couple of plinks and then got 'Crew one hit in head'.
Plane hit the dirt and I'm cursing my luck and the flak that must have got me.
CSR check showed I was killed by a greentag RIFLEMAN.
Lucky boy.
Thats what i get for bringing a knife to a cannon fight.

Good stuff!
I wonder what he was thinking when i heard my deathcry.
Right, so I was new to the game and saw my first EATG from up-close. Of course, being a ninja, I tried to knife him. He looked at me going all "en garde" on him for a bit and calmly undeployed and ran me over.
Well, Elements of the 78th, were sapping a FB, and our CO praevus8 dropped me and Lostkill off.
I was going for the Veh Spawn, and a Truck took off, and I was going to sap it.
I ran into him! *SMACK*
It killed me!
