Hello Everyone,

Well it's been a long road but we have finally finished up our 1st Squad Challenge Event.  We started at the end of September and we finished the last match for the Squad Challenge Title on the 9th of January 4 hours after the Pearl Harbor Event. The challenge was a round robin event. For those of you not familiar with that type of tournament, it's set up so that all the teams play every team and are scored with points for winning. The team or squad in our case with the most points is the tournament winner.

For the 1st  Squad Challenge we had 4 squads who participated in the event. They were BTZ, 101ST, 7th AST, and 91st Sturmbattalion. One of the reasons the squad challenge took so long is that we did not assign a date to play. Each squad was told who they were matched up against and were given a time frame (usually 2  weeks, more if needed) to get with the squads contact player and schedule a time that both squads could agree on that was best for getting the most participation from their members.

This challenge was called "Ambush". Each squad had to play 2 matches against the squad they were matched up against. 1 turn was playing the Convoy and the other turn was playing the Ambushers. The Ambushers objective was kill the commander of the convoy  and the convoys objective was to get their commander to the objective town and for him to make it inside the AB bunker alive.

After 2 Rounds, 7th AST was in the lead after sweeping BTZ and 101st and had 4 points going into the last Round against 91^st  Sturmbattalion which had split it's rounds with BTZ and the 101st and had a score of 2 points. It was do or die for the 91^st. At the end of round 3, the 91^st  scored 2 points and swept 7th AST to tie the match and send theS quad Challenge into a tie breaker for the challenge title. So, after a long 4 months we have a winner.

The winner of the 1st Squad Challenge is the 91^st Sturmbattalion. Congratulations 91^st  and I hope that you will participate in the next Challenge and see if you can defend your title. The 2nd Squad Challenge is currently under construction and will be a combined arms mission where you will take a turn and have to attack and capture a specific objective and then take a turn at defending that specific objective. The 2nd Challenge, if everything gets worked out, will begin in March and signups will be open in February. We hope that the Squads of WWIIOL Battleground Europe will participate in the Challenge and take their Squad to another level of the game where team work, communications, and battlefield tactics test your squads at the highest level of competition.
