An excerpt from the desk of the Axis Commander-in-Chief: S!  I would be remiss if I didn't tell you I feel like Karl Doenitz taking over the German military with the enemy on our front porch and knocking on the door.  However, looking back on this very long campaign, it has been nothing short of amazing.  The battles that were waged and continue to be waged are some of the best that ww2ol has ever seen.  The change over of Antwerp and Brussels from Allied control to Axis, then back to Allied again, the Allied getting cutoff in the south, then the Axis suffering the same fate, truly remarkable.

Let’s talk about squads.  Currently there are over 300 active squads in the Game.  They vary in size, organization, and unit preference.  We have ATG-only squads, squads that simulate military tactics and structure, recon squads and squads that are just a group of friends who just play together and have fun.  Squads are the backbone of Battleground Europe and always will be.  The unique thing about the squads in this game is that they are player owned and player controlled.  The members of the squad pick their own Commanding Officer, establish their own bylaws, and discipline themselves as they see fit.  Squads are also a great way for our new customers to learn the game and socialize with players of a similar age, geographical region, and style of play.  I understand the need to be a “lone wolf” from time to time but being part of a group has benefits that would surprise you.  I’ve made some great friends while being part of a squad.  Friends that I still speak with and visit today.

The back and forth movements of the frontlines has given the players a chance to fight in different towns under different conditions, sometimes never seeing the same locale twice.  Win or lose, the battles themselves have been spectacular and one of the reasons that keep me coming back to this game.

The hard-core Axis players are putting up a bitter fight at all hours of the day and night.  There have been some really great leaders emerge during this campaign both in high command and outside of high command.  The dedicated Axis squads have really made a difference these past few days and it is to these players that I give my sincere thanks and appreciation.

Even though this campaign is not over, I do hear the enemy gunfire and bombs from my bunker here in Koln.  It is up to our Axis players to band together and help pull us out and turn this around.  They and they alone are the only ones who can throw back the enemy from our doorstep and expel them from our land.  If we pull together as a team this will be easy, if we consign ourselves to "let the Allies have it", and decide to wait until the next map, we will have robbed ourselves of an excellent opportunity for glory and an unbelievable Axis turn around.  Make no mistake about it; we have come back from this position on the map before to win!  If our Axis forces have the resolve and will, we shall do it again.  I hope that you will fight with me until the bitter end.

Officer of the week:
Dasei88: Dasei88 is a fairly new officer to the OKW, but Wow! What a player.  It seems he is always online and always trying to make the attacks or defenses worthwhile for the Axis players.  A real rising star for team Axis and I look forward to seeing what you do in the future.  S!

Player of the week:
Coda4406: Coda4406 is one of those rare players that every side needs.  648 tables captures this campaign alone for the Axis side says a lot.  It players like Coda4406, who make the effort to capture the CPs that truly move the map.  Its not the HC that make the map move, its folks like Coda4406 that make the map move.  S! Coda and thank you for your dedication and doing what it takes to make team Axis successful.

Again, this campaign is not over.  I call on all of you dedicated Axis players to help turn the Allies and their momentum around.  Have fun in the game and enjoy the fight.

S!
