Excellent Teamwork Overcomes Axis FB Defenders

At approximately 22:37, Allied command opened operations in the south sector, particularly in the Chuignolles area. Both forward bases where held by Axis forces. It should be noted that the Chaulnes-Chuignolles FB and the Peronne-Chuignolles FB are less than a kilometer apart, and present an engaging target, and quite a challenge if properly defended, as there are two spawn points within a few meters of each other, from two different Axis brigades.

Upon my arrival to the mission, Sgt. Kenki was onsite alone, and the mission’s MSP had been destroyed/removed. Sgt. Kenki was the sole Allied resource on location and fighting against multiple Axis defenders. Previous missions/players had somewhat damaged each of the FB’s targets (VEH, INF, OTHER). Sgt. Kenki did have CAP/CAS assistance from Dogbertx, and they were effectively harassing the Axis defenders.
I immediately drove a Laffly S20 out to deployment range, deployed the MSP, and contacted both Kenki and Dogbertx to notify of arrival and get a SITREP. I advertised the MSP, and target to proper channels (both regular and squad). I then spawned in to mission as a Sapper, and proceeded to the Chaulnes-Chuignolles FB.

After approaching the FB, and with a limited amount of Sappers available in supply, Kenki and I decided to use a “bait and draw” tactic, to lure the EI defenders away from the FB. Kenki spawned in and headed to an opposite position to the north of my approach to the FB, and started to make noise. Kenki effectively removed two defenders from the FB, as he lead them on a wild goose-chase through the brush, allowing me to plan my assault on the spawns.

As the last defender went to find Kenki, I approached the INF spawn. With this diversion I was able to; get one charge on the INF to destroy it. I then sound a third ESMG, and killed this “inside” EI defending the spawns. I was also able to get two more charges on the VEH spawn (almost destroying it 85%), but upon placing my second charge on the VEH, the EI defender had respawned, and managed to wound me. Finding safety in some brush, my wounds stabilized, and I found a great hiding place. At this time, the first of a new wave of sappers, Col. Sgt Nukiller, arrived. As Nukiller sapped the “other” tents, the EI defender who was covering me was distracted long enough for me to kill him! Nukiller then placed the remaining charge on the VEH, bringing the FB down.

The remainder of the sappers arrived onsite, and we proceeded to the Peronne-Chuignolles FB, and finding it undefended, destroyed it.

In the one hour operation, we accomplished our mission against great odds with excellent communications, patience and persistence, all great Allied attributes.

As always, it was a great pleasure to be part of this mission.
Special mention in dispatches – Kenki, Nukiller, Dogbertx

Nice work for allied soldiers, but do you think the constant long spawn delays axis endure had anything to do with it?

The Spawn delay is the result of the huge number difference. This may have helped here but it certainly helped the axis everywhere else.
