After a lightning sweep of the Zeelands and portions of the western Netherlands the German military attempted to strike back at the small town of Moerdijk. The British forces in the north were spread thin from the rapid advance and there was still a chance for a quick turnaround. Early in the evening there was only a single British naval brigade in the northern portion of the Zeelands operating out of Moerdijk and it was occupied in mop up operations against cut off pockets. The Germans took the initiative and started to push back against it with probes from other nearby naval brigades. A light attack was met by light defenses and although the occasional depot would fall it would often be re-secured quickly. I even proactively pushed out to the north with the venerable 2lb. anti-tank gun covering the narrow causeway from Dordrecht Myself and frikshun held off several probes. The German attack became more serious as the infantry and fallschirmjäger brigades began their assault. German infantry began to push from the south as paratroopers scattered all over the city. The call for support went out and all arms responded. Several fighter pilots including redneck drove off harassing stukas and 110s. The allied navies saw a half dozen join in at town including pictboy3 and quizno. The timeliest response came from the army and High Command. The British 2nd Brigade advanced into town just before the largest German push. Three Depots fell and the call went out across the army and the response was quick and efficient. More than a dozen soldiers quickly joined the fight and re-secured the town in mere minutes. Mop up operations began. I observed donald1 slowly climbing the fire escape of the apartment block in town to surprise and eliminate an enemy sniper. The fight was effectively over once kenney announced over the radio that the German forward base from Breda had been destroyed. There's little doubt that this small skirmish betrays the carnage that awaits us all in this upcoming campaign. Submitted by ''Stu" We publish after action reports written by players.
