The battle started out with some axis players attacking Schilde. After a while our troops pushed them back to the FB...Eventually we sapped the FB and realized that the brigade in Grobbendonk was severely attritted and was ready for picking. We immediately got ourselves into the town with little resistance at first, but after 5 to 10 minutes of capping depots the Axis players started to push us back. Eventually they pushed us back to the West side of the town, where the road only separated us from sure Victory.

Knowing that they were very attritted we brought another brigade in and flooded the town with our tanks... but the Axis leaders did the same thing... Just as we had entered the town the Axis Panzers were leaving the Vehicle spawn. So we called in Air support... Air support couldn't do much since the 109s were over head. We kept pumping more and more manpower into this battle. Eventually we had to bring in another Brigade and take one of ours out. By then the Axis had already rolled another brigade in... and moved their depleted brigade to Oostmalle.

After 45 minutes of intense fighting the Axis liberated Grobbendonk. Many of us started to doubt if we could still get the town and morale remained low until we had a Paradrop onto Oostmalle. Once this had happened we were able to generate a little hope for the long battle at Grobbendonk (which at this point had been going on for 2 Hours and 30 minutes...). Eventually, our fellow Allied soldiers were able to capture Oostmalle with some assistance from people in Grobbendonk. (Including myself.)

By then it looked like the Axis may still hold onto Grobbendonk, so we continue to hit east... Turnhout. Once Turnhout fell we went back to Grobbendonk, by then the Axis were so weak they were bring up another division to help out but by then was already too late.

We had captured Grobbendonk...

Probably some of the most fun I've had in a very long time.

I really had a blast in that battle, probably some of the most fun since 1.10 days. Everyone was working together it was all about inching across no man's land (Aka... the Road). I hope the Axis had just as fun as we did.

Gotta say that 1.31 has brought us the largest battles I've ever seen in 9 years playing this game. Each town seems to be a major engagement ... Grob, Vianden, Spa .... the list goes on and on.

It was an excellent fight for sure. Many of the battles this campaign have been very good. P.S. Axis will have Grobbendonk, Oostmaalle, and Turnhout back so don't forget to pick up your allied trash as you leave.
