We've all had those sessions in our favorite games from which we have emerged declaring, "That was so completely and totally awesome, I've GOT to tell everyone about it!" at which point our family and friends usually roll their eyes and turn up the volume on the TV. However we here at Battleground Europe understand serious gamers.
The community forums have long been filled with AARs (After Action Reports) of tank skirmishes, air battles, naval encounters, infantry fights and even in-game practical jokes. Everyone has their favorite story that they want to share. Cornered Rat Software recently added a new section at Battlegroundeurope.com for just that purpose.
The "War Correspondents Reports" was re-launched in September and instantly became a community favorite. The tone of these stories varies from "Just the facts, Ma'am", to brutally descriptive reports of intense combat. Some of the more creative submissions have come in the form of tongue-in-cheek pokes at life on the virtual battlefields or poignant letters home to loved ones. Submitters have really stretched their creative legs on this. Some of these stories have made me laugh out loud or cringe, even choked me up a little. All of them make me want to hop in-game and play more than I usually get to. Every month, CRS chooses an outstanding story and awards the winner a one-month credit on their game account and a Battleground Europe collectible t-shirt. October's winning story was submitted by "Sport20". "Throught the Crosshairs of a Sniper" is a wonderfully descriptive AAR of one of hundreds of infantry missions played out every day in Battleground Europe.
